Our Teams
Why Breds
Built around long-term development.
Development First
We're primarily a tournament program. Depending on a team's makeup and where they are developmentally, some teams play a season built around scrimmages, practice games, and intrasquads instead of a full tournament schedule. Training continues when the season ends. Being a Thoroughbred means full access to LAUNCH programming year-round: strength and conditioning, arm care, a speed program, and the same athletic development work built into every LAUNCH program. Training happens as a group, but every athlete's development is individualized. Everyone gets what they need.
How Our Teams Are Coached
Every team is coached by three coaches. Our goal is one non-parent coach plus two parent-coaches, though sometimes that looks like two non-parent coaches and one parent-coach, depending on what each team needs. Parent-coaches are trained in how we communicate, run practices, and uphold the program's standards. Older Thoroughbreds athletes also help coach younger age groups throughout the season.
Serious Training, Still a Kids' Game
Development and enjoyment build on each other here. Athletes are coached to compete, to improve, and to understand the game more deeply each season, all while remembering why they wanted to play in the first place.
Multi-Sport Friendly
We support athletes playing multiple sports. Thoroughbreds is meant to be a family's primary travel baseball commitment, so we ask that families prioritize Thoroughbreds practices and games, but town baseball, rec leagues, and other commitments are welcome when they don't conflict. We communicate early and openly so training plans and workloads can adjust as needed.
